O'Hare honored with 2004 Excellence in Nursing/Allied Health award.

Candela's own Deirdre O'Hare, RN, BSN, was recognized for more than 25 years of experience with medical lasers when she received the Excellence in Nursing/Allied Health award from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery at their annual conference in April 2004.

The award pays tribute to outstanding nursing/allied health contributions to ASLMS and the advancement of joint practice in laser medicine and surgery. It also rewards demonstrated expertise, consistent professional conduct, and exceptional standards of practice in nursing.

A 1978 graduate of Boston University, O'Hare served as Nurse Coordinator at the Joint Center for Cutaneous Laser Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for 16 years. She is currently Lead Clinical Nurse Consultant at Candela Corporation. She has been an active member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery since 1985 holding several leadership positions. She also lectures on clinical laser issues and has served as a course faculty member.

  1. The purchase of each Candela laser includes a clinical training session on that laser.
  2. Laser physics and safety, operation, maintenance and trouble shooting, and parameter selection are reviewed in detail with the customer.
  3. Additionally, customers are supervised during the initial patient treatment experience.
  4. The consultants accommodate the needs of each Candela customer and additional training is available.
  5. Clinical consultants present lectures on laser physics and safety and demonstrate and provide support during the interactive demonstration at Candela workshops held worldwide.
